Kolkata: Although former Indian skipper and CAB president Sourav Ganguly feels writing a book is ‘nightmarish’ yet the former southpaw is writing a book on mind games in sports.
“To sit and write, dictate someone, then correct it and make sure it’s on time with the publisher, it’s a nightmare,” said Ganguly during a book release function.
On his upcoming book, he said, “I was chased for a long time but I’m not a great writer. I’ve been asked to write a book on mind games in sport.”
He further revealed, “It’s a book on how the player’s mindset is important to develop the sport and I found that pretty boring actually.”
Ganguly’s cricketing journey is nothing short of eventful. A hundred on debut at the iconic Lord’s stadium, taking his team to the 2003 World Cup finals, the controversy with Greg Chappell and then a grand comeback- the, ‘Prince of Kolkata’s’ story has all the elements of a perfect autobiography.
Said Ganguly, “I have not started thinking about my autobiography. Honestly I don’t have time and patience to write about what I’ve done for 15-20 years.”
The former Indian skipper, who doesn’t quite spend time reading books, added, “When I became captain a lot of people asked me have you read ‘The Art of Captaincy’ by Mike Brearley or the book by Sunil Gavaskar… I said ‘yes only the front page’.”
