It was a tense match and Brazil was first to make inroads at the scoreboard shortly into the second half by Friaça, only to be equalized by Juan Alberto Schiaffino. The tussle went further in this match till 11 minutes before closing time when Alcides Ghiggia scored the winner for Uruguay. The title went to Uruguay with a 2-1 scoreline.
1966 World Cup: Title Clash between England & West Germany
England and Germany are among the most competitive teams in Football. And the title clash between these two teams has been one of the memorable football matches of all time. In team sports and especially Football, the results may not even portray the kind of tussle the teams must have gone through and this match was no aberration.
It was a decent encounter between the two teams as strikers from both sides tried all sorts of tricks to get ahead in the game. Helmut Haller scored off a header from Ray Wilson twelve minutes into the game to get the scoreboard rolling. Shortly after, in the 19th minute, Geoff Hurst scored via header to equalize for the English team.
Coming off the break into the second half with a 1-1 score, teams tried to get ahead, but it was not before 77th minute that it happened and it was Martin Peters who scored of a corner. Behind by a goal, West Germany was not in a mood to allow England take the match and the title. Wolfgang Weber scored off a rebound in the 89th minute to take the game to extra time for decision of the winners.
England scored twice in the extra time to be crowned champions while West Germany had to be content with the runners up tag.
1970 World Cup: Clash between England & Brazil

This FIFA World Cup was seen as a big platform for Neymar Jr. as the Barcelona star was seen as a potential leading scorer of the edition. Dreams were shattered though of Brazilian fans and fans of the team and Neymar Jr. across the goal as their favorite team succumb to a thumping 7-1 loss to Germany.
Germany went on to win the edition and are into the 2018 World Cup at Russia as the defending Champions, though they haven’t have the best of outings so far.
