Pune: The Pune based franchise of Indian Super League, FC Pune City commenced the phase two of their pre-season training and conditioning for the 2016 season at Vincci Valdecanas near Madrid, Spain under the watchful eyes of head coach Antonio Lopez Habas.
The complex, Vincci Valdecanas is exclusively designed for the requirements of corporate events, sport, leisure and family in a protected environment.
Speaking about the training sessions, the CEO of FC Pune City, Gaurav Modwel said,“This is the team’s time to lay down solid fitness foundations for the intensive season ahead. The entire squad along with the support staff will be there for 31 days to ensure everyone is in shape.”
“Each player is different; therefore they will get customized training plans and diets that help them to be ready before the season starts. Its also an opportunity for all players, Indians and foreigners to establish relationships and build understanding that will help everyone understand their roles and responsibilities better,” further explained Mr. Modwel.
Prior to this phase, during the first phase, medical and fitness test was conducted in Mumbai and Delhi for the Indian players with Fitness Coach Miguel Martinez and Team Doctor Ajit Mapari. In line with the training schedule, at Valdecanas, the entire squad, including the foreign signings, will assemble with Antonio at the helm of the affairs.
The Head coach Antonio, while speaking about the training session, emphasized the importance of this pre-season, “The pre-season is a great opportunity to work closely with the players. We will spend time ironing out any niggles, work on players’ weaknesses and educate them about their bodies. Building match-winning fitness is the prime objective of our pre-season – without it our tactics, team spirit and technical skill will all be redundant.”
Speaking about the session, Bollywood celebrity & Co-owner of the club, Hrithik Roshan said, “Pre-season training is a time when individuals come together and gel as a team, to unify in thought, desire and approach towards the upcoming season. I am sure the coach and the players will train their hardest and come back fit and ready for the challenge.”
The team needs to train in Valdecanas until September 11, 2016. Completing the training, the team will be back to Pune for the final phase of pre-season training.
