Kolkata: I-League giants East Bengal are leaving no stone unturned in building a strong squad for the upcoming season of the I-League as the Red and Gold brigade have signed Carlyle Deon Mitchell as their third foreigner. Mitchell plays for the Trinidad and Tobago national team and the central defender is undoubtedly would be a huge addition to their squad.
Mitchell signed for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the Major League Soccer in the year 2011 when he made his debut on the 6th of October of the same year. Two years later on the 11th of March 2013, he moved to NASL club FC Edmonton on loan. After the end of the 2014 season, he was released by Vancouver.
South Korean club Seoul E-Land then signed him in December that year for the 2015 season. In 2010, he made his debut for Trinidad and Tobago and his first goal came against Honduras in the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers in 2015 in his side’s 3-1 loss.
Atletico sign ex-Tottenham star
After signing greats like Luis Garcia and Helder Postiga in their three year run in the ISL, defending champions Atletico De Kolkata is likely to sign a Robbie Keane, a legendary footballer of the Republic of Ireland for the upcoming edition of the Indian Super League.
A former star of English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspurs, he produced some magical moments at the club and his inclusion in the ISL would be a great treat for the Indian football fans.
The 37- year old Keane last played in Major League Soccer for LA Galaxy and has as many as 83 goals to his name in 125 appearances. He represented Ireland in the UEFA Euro 2012 and 2016 and is an all-time top scorer in the qualification matches in the European Championship. His international retirement came in August 2016.
