Dubai: Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni inaugurated his global cricket academy on Saturday in Dubai.
Jointly launched by the Pacific Sports Club and Aarka Sports Club, the, ‘MS Dhoni Cricket Academy’ has been working for sometime now at the Springdales School in Al Quoz. The academy will have Indian coaches who would be led by former Mumbai bowler Vishal Mahadik.
Facilities like four turf, three cement and three matted pitches, spin and swing bowling machine, safety nets, lights for night practice, in-house sports shop for cricketing gear and video analysis is available at the academy which was launched in the presence of the former skipper, some main stakeholders and some excited trainees.
Regular matches would be conducted by the academy and in order to get match practice, the trainees would also be made to participate in tournaments as well.
Dhoni was, ‘delighted’ to have been associated with this and he said, “I am delighted to be a part of this venture and will contribute in every way possible to make it a success. It has been my dream to contribute to the game in every way possible. This is the first step in that direction. The enthusiasm of the trainees is what will drive this venture.”
