Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo is the second player after Messi to win the UEFA’s Best Player for the second time in a row. The Portuguese captain won the award ahead of his teammate Gareth Bale, Antoine Griezmann who is Atletico Madrid forward. Ronaldo had a great season wherein winning European title for the third time and second time with Real Madrid were highlights.
The women’s Best Player in Europe went to Ada Hederberg who is a Striker of Féminine club Olympique Lyonnais. Hederberg who plays for Norway is the first non-German winner of the award. In her best season ever, she won UEFA’s Women’s Champion League, French Cup and the French League last season scoring 46 goals. Hederberg also holds the record when she became the first woman in 20 years to win Norway’s Gold Ball for best footballer for the country. During the nominations, she beat Amandine Henry and Dzsenifer Marsozan to win the award.
While in the Men’s one, 51 goals combined in La Liga and UEFA Champions League brought together the best season for Cristiano Ronaldo to win this award. The Portuguese player with 364 goals also became the all-time top goal scorer after Raul Gonzalez of Los Blancos’. Ronaldo won the award with a great margin where he got 40 votes out of 55 members voted. Ronaldo is among the few players who made it to the football ground at a very young age and rose up to the level of rare player.
Among his few achievements he holds the record for most hat-tricks in Real Madrid’s history (37). He is the first player for Madrid to score eight consecutive matchdays, fastest player to reach 50, 100, 200 & 250 official goals and he scored most number of goals in consecutive seven league matches. His records, awards & wonderful play doesn’t stops here. Being the most expensive player in football history from 2009-13 he is certainly the most expensive player in the world of football.
