Kolkata: After scoring the opening goal in the 3-0 rout of Southern Samity, Liberian midfielder Ansumana Kromah looks doubtful for Mohun Bagan’s next match against Railways FC.
The new signing Kromah picked up a groin injury during the training sessions ahead of Bagan’s next match on Friday. Although the extent of his injury has not been confirmed, Kromah was seen training separately from the team with the physical trainer Samiran Nag and also did not take part in the regular team practice match.
According to reports from Xtratime, Bagan coach for the CFL Shankarlal Chakraborty, was quoted as saying, “Kromah got injured because of the heavy ground. Though I’m optimistic that we would be getting his services tomorrow.”
Ansumana who has been signed from Churchill Brothers this season had a dream debut for the Mariners, putting up a man of the match performance against Southern Samity. He put up a commanding performance in the midfield and also scored a goal during the match.
Bagan next take on Railways FC and it will be a great boost for the team if the midfield general if declared fit for the match. Ivorian Kamo Stephane Bayi, signed from Aizwal FC is expected to be included in the line-up if Kromah does not make the cut.
East Bengal lead the CFL table with 6 points from two matches, followed by Bagan at 3 points from one match.
