Kabaddi fought it’s way back from oblivion as it gradually arose as a popular game. Evergreen star Amitabh Bachchan was there to make sure of that as he congratulates India for winning against Iran in the Kabaddi World Cup at the TransStadia Arena in Ahmedabad.
India beat Iran 38-29 to win Kabaddi World Cup and surpassed all expectations and cliched the trophy, like it did in the 2004 and 2007 editions of the Kabaddi World Cup.
This was India’s eighth world title. Ajay Thakur won 12 points alone for India. Big B surely lent all his support by calling it a “time for celebration and cheer”.
“The excitement of the hour, India wins world cup Kabaddi 2016. Seen on television with the family by the side and surreptitiously moving in and out of the room to rid the ambiance of superstition,” his official blog post read.
“We rule and it is not often that we do that, but when we do, it is time for celebration and cheer and Twitter and Facebook in praise of the efforts made, by team India, and cheering them on to win,” he added.
There are surely a few who are taking multimedia platforms to feast on criticism and he did well to point this issue out.
“There are certain Twitter conscious twitterati that survive this platform simply by criticising or speaking controversially on the win, saying they invented darts and curling. They have been world champions for long but have never beaten their chests just like we do often, in the confines of various hotels,” he elicited.
Bachchan family has been actively promoting the sport of Kabaddi. Abhishek Bachchan has been seeing owning the Kabaddi Premier League’s Jaipur team, Amitabh Bachchan too has lent his voice to KPL’s promotional song for several seasons.
Celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Paresh Rawal, Randeep Hooda and Madhur Bhandarkar also took their Twitter handles by storm in order to congratulate the Indian win.
