Ace squash player Joshna Chinappa makes it to the quarter finals by beating Egyptian qualifier Salma Hany Ibrahim 12-10, 11-9, 11-8 in the Carol Weymuller Open- a PSA world tour event.
Our fourth seeded player, will lock horns with Sarah Jane-Perry of England, who is seeded seventh.
Joshna thrived hard against Salma till the end of 38 minutes and finally turned the tables.
Incidentally both had played each other the previous year as well, where the Egyptian had put up a strong game yet again and Joshna was pushed to the fifth game, which she barely won.
World No. 13 Joshna’s perseverance gave her the required push to win against World No. 35 Salma, who almost had it standing at a 10-8, with a good shot and a quick strike.
The following one saw Salma taking a 4-0 lead before making it 9-6, here too Joshna put on a brave face and seized the win.
A more confident Joshna, blew the game in her favour and bagged the win at the third and made up her 1-3 deficit to stand at a 8-4.
Later in the day, the other Indian star Dipika Pallikal will be seen playing against second seed Camille Serme.
