Kolkata: The Pragyan Ojha controversy in Bengal cricket has finally come to an end after the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) issued a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to the left-arm spinner, enabling him to freely represent Hyderabad in the upcoming Ranji Trophy season.
According to Xtratime, the 31-year-old, in a letter to the CAB stated that it is difficult for him to leave Hyderabad due to family reasons. He added that it would be disastrous if he missed matches at this stage of his career.
He pleaded for the matter to be taken up sympathetically, seeking the NOC to be able to represent Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy.
The CAB after an internal analysis and deliberation decided to release the India spinner.
CAB joint secretary Avishek Dalmiya said, “We had received a letter from Prgyan Ojha where he requested for the NOC to play for Hyderabad. The matter was discussed with the President. The matter has been considered sympathetically based on Mr. Ojha’s request to the President and therefore the Association would have no objection if he plays for Hyderabad.”
Earlier it was learnt according to sources that Ojha had written to the BCCI as well as the Committee of Administrators (COA) informing them about this issue. He also questioned as to why he doesn’t deserve a NOC to join the Hyderabad team despite him giving familial reasons for the same.
