Excited on joining the club, Miku said, “I have heard a lot about the club and the city. We have some great players in the club who always fight for titles, so I hope it will be a good season for every one of us in Bengaluru. I spoke to Albert Roca about the club, the league and the team. He’s a very good and experienced coach and explained to me what he wants from me for this season. I can’t wait to join my teammates and begin training.”
The striker who played for Venezuela in the 2011 and 2015 Copa America has made 51 appearances for the national team scoring 11 goals in the process.
A former Valencia product, the 32-year old has played for La Liga clubs like Rayo Vallecano and Getafe, with his best spell coming during his three year stint with the latter, where he scored 26 goals in just 96 appearances. He also played for Scottish side Celtic in between, where he managed to win the Scottish League title.
Head coach Albert Roca sounded extremely delighted with the newest addition to his squad, when he said, “I’m extremely happy to have secured the services of Miku. He is an exciting player with some great skills and his playing style will help us a lot. Miku has played for several top clubs for a number of years now, and the experience he brings in will be very crucial for us this season.”
The former Rayo Vallecano player will join the likes of Juanan, Dimas Delgado, Erik Paartalu, Toni, Braulio and John Johnson as Bengaluru’s seventh foreign signing of the season. He will compete with Spanish forward Braulio and Indian star Sunil Chhetri for the strikers’s role .
Meanwhile, Jamshedpur FC continued with their trend of signing former ISL stars. They roped in defender Andre Bikey as their fifth foreign recruit of the season. Bikey, who has earlier played for NorthEast United (2015) and FC Pune City (2016) in the ISL can also fit in the midfield. He played for Burnley in the English Premier League for three seasons between 2009-2012, making 70 odd appearances for them.
Also FC Pune City completed the signing of Croatian defender Damir Grgic. Born in Germany, the 25 year old has played for a host of clubs in Germany, Austria and Slovenia and joins the Maharashtra based franchise as their sixth foreign signing for the upcoming ISL.
