Kolkata: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) finally took a decision to look into the contract issue of Abinash Ruidas, who faces a strange situation with his contract with the Kolkata based I-League club East Bengal.
The federation has set up a six-member committee, to investigate the bizzare contract situation of Abinas Ruidas. The committee is said to be consisting of members from the disciplinary committee, player status committee and other committees from the IFA.
The 21-year-old winger, who was said to have signed a blank sheet of paper when signing a contract extension with the Kolkata giants in 2016, reportedly wanted to register for the ISL domestic draft at the end of his contract in July, but to his surprise, found out that he had two more years left in his contract after completing three years with East Bengal, when the actual deal was of three and not five years.
In a bid to get more game playing time, the former ATK winger decided to take part in the ISL and was cleared by the AIFF to go ahead, but the club stepped in between to stop the proceedings. The club submitted the contract papers to the IFA to clear all sorts of miscommunications.
Ruidas, disappointed vowed to stay back at home rather than playing for the club citing trust issues. The player has been warned of facing severe punishment from disciplinary committee of the Federation, if found to be violating his contract, a top official said.
