Mumbai: The rapport of Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli has been rather good and Kumble wishes to continue the same kind of rapport with Mahendra Singh Dhoni. As the Indian team will be lead by Dhoni in the Two Match T20 series, this will be the first time, Kumble and Dhoni former team mates, will play coach and captain.
Both seem to be equally excited and nervous about this new equation.
On one side Kumble was quoted as saying, “This is the first time that I’ll be working with M.S. Obviously we have played together over a long period of time and we had a chat yesterday and today as well. I’m really looking forward to working with him.”
On the other side, Dhoni said, “Well Anil Bhai (brother), I have played with him.” He added, “I have played under him and he is a very special man.”
While the rapport builds between the two, the pressure also builds on the team. If India looses to the T20 world champions, West Indies, they might also lose their second rank.
Anil Kumble knows that the win in the test match series in the Caribbean, which got India to Rank 1, in the test match, won’t be of any use as West Indies has got an all together different team for the limited over series. In a recent interview Kumble said, “West Indies have always been a tough side, they are the T20 world champions. About the shift that we need to make from test cricket to T20, the West Indies players may not have to do that because some of them are coming straight from the Caribbean Premier League.”
Kumble further added, “They (West Indies) are quality cricketers and have shown consistently how good they are and we had a tough match in the semi-finals of the T20 World cup as well.”
With Skipper Dhoni, leading the team and Kumble coaching the team, the Indian supporters will definitely look forward to both the matches and expect a good performance of the players.
The matches are scheduled on 27th August and 28th August i.e. coming Saturday and Sunday, and they will be a decider for where India stands in the world T20 rankings.
