Indian compound archery coach Sunil Kumar was suspended by the Archery Association of India (AAI) for his misconduct during the Youth World Archery Championship in Argentina.
Sunil Kumar, who hails from Haryana, allegedly hugged a female member of the Great Britain team during an official practice session in the tournament where India enjoyed a good amount of success, winning three medals which includes a recurve mixed pair gold in the junior category. Kumar was sent back home immediately following this behavior.

Anil Kamineni, the secretary general of the AAI in an interaction with PTI said, “There’s a code of conduct of the World Archery and based on the reports we have suspended the coach (Sunil Kumar). We have sought all the reports from the (international) federation and the (Britain) team.”
Sunil Kumar, who was appointed on the recommendation of top ranked Indian compound archer Mayank Rawat will have action taken against him after an inquiry is conducted in this issue by the AAI, according to reports.

The coach is appointed by the AAI according to the preference of the player who topped in the selection trial. Sunil Kumar was also part of the eight-member coaching team that traveled to Rosario, accompanying 24 archers.
Satyadev Prasad of Uttar Pradesh, who is 2004 Olympian traveled with the team as manager.

Prasad told PTI, “I have mentioned in my report to the SAI they are looking and investigating further.”
It is learnt that Sunil Kumar has written a ‘letter of apology’ to both the AAI and SAI.
