Mumbai: On October 22, the Indians proved their supremacy and prowess in the sport by clinching Iran 38-29 in the summit clash to take its third World crown. Honoring our Kabaddi players, who added another cherishing moment in the book of achievements, Government of India has decided to accolade their hard-work. In accordance to it Sports Ministry on Thursday announced a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh each for the members of the Indian Kabaddi team, led by Anup Kumar.
This prestigious announcement was made at a felicitation ceremony, organised at Sports Minister, Mr. Vijay Goel’s residence. Where, he also put forward his ministry’s approach for elevating the game by enumerating Kabaddi in list of Olympic Games.
“All players will get Rs 10 lakh each and the coach will also be awarded. We will also strive that this game of ours is there in Olympics. It’s not just about cricket, we want football, hockey and other games to be promoted,” Goel said.
Despite Kabbadi being India’s Integral game the level of competition has increased at international level because of the popularity which it has gain in recent times, along with the increased performance of the foreign players.
India captain Anup said- “Competition is tough out there but advantage that we have is that it’s our rural game, we have played it since childhood and they have started playing it only recently,”
In the same notion, Man-of the-tournament Ajay Thakur believes that, India enjoying the added advantage of their integral game is not more than a mere myth, Indian team too faces vigorous competition and work hard to earn the famed win.
“We were trailing in the final. The competition is getting tough. They come here and learn,” Ajay said.
