Following the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium closely, the DY Patil Stadium of Navi Mumbai won the rights to host the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017; and thus became the second venue to be ratified for the FIFA U-17 World Cup by the visiting delegation comprising experts from FIFA and LOC Officials.
The 23-member delegation inclusive of ten members of the Local Organising Committee, today, assessed the stadium & checked the facilities to see the developments. After the venue visit, the delegation expressed their satisfaction with the progress of the stadium development and said that the selection wasn’t tough indicating about the wonderful work of the stadium authorities.
The stadium authorities at the DY Patil Stadium have invested a lot to modify the cricket facilities to suit the requirements of the 2017 version of FIFA U17 World Cup. In the press conference held post the venue visits and ratification of facilities, the delegation led by Project Lead Ms Tracy Lu announced about the acceptance of the stadium as the second venue of the much awaited FIFA event which is scheduled in September-October next year.
However a small issue happened at the Press Conference which could see the organisers in bad air: the name of the Project Lead of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, Ms. Tracy Lu was written as MR. Tracy Lu on the Table Signage for the Press Conference.
