Aigle: The International Cycling federation, Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and the Association Internationale des Groupes Cyclistes Professionels (AIGCP) have agreed on changes which will allow maximum of UCI World Teams take part in the 2016 version of UCI Road World Championships Men’s Time Trial at Doha, Qatar, as per announcement made by UCI through their press release.
The two cycling bodies have agreed on a number of adjustments to the 2016 UCI Road World Championships Men’s Team Time Trial format to ensure this.
The meeting which was held to put together the frame to include as many of the UCI World Teams, wherein UCI acknowledged teams’ concerns raised by the AIGCP, and has opted for a non-compulsory format for UCI World Teams. This change will mean that no UCI World Tour points will be awarded, bringing the Men’s Team Time Trial event in line with the rest of the UCI Road World Championship events.
During the meeting, it was also agreed that the model of the event shall be revised for future editions in collaboration with the AIGCP. This agreement between the two premier organization in the world of Cycling resulted in the UCI and AIGCP confirming the participation of following teams the Doha based event: AG2R La Mondiale, Astana Pro Team, BMC Racing Team, Etixx – Quick Step, Movistar Team, Orica-Bikeexchange, Team Giant – Alpecin, Team Katusha, Team Lotto NL – Jumbo and Team Sky.
In coming days, more teams are expected to confirm their participation.
