Marlow, England: In their second match of England tour, India’s Junior Men’s team beat Scotland 5-1 at the Bisham Abbey Sports Centre today.
Indians were cautious at the start while Scottish team started off aggressively, but couldn’t make any early inroads to the scoreboard as India were spot on with their defense with a few hit at opposition goal. As the quarter moved forward, India scored through Ajay Yadav to take lead. This was the score when the teams went for their first break.
Coming off from the break, India increased their pace and started getting chances to break into the defense of opponents: soon Yadav scored his second goal as teams went into half-time with the score reading 2-0 in favor of India.
With this lead, India had to only maintain the tempo entering the third quarter, which they did as they scored off a penalty corner early in the third quarter via Varun Kumar. The scoreboard 3-0 stayed afloat till the teams went for the final break despite desperate attempts from Scotland to reduce the goal deficit.
Coming back from the break, India grew from strong to stronger as India scored twice in the final quarter to take the lead to 5-0. Finally, in the dying moments of the match, Scotland scored through William Marshall to just make a presence on the scoreboard. The final scores read 5-1 in favor of India and their second win in as many games on their tour.
