Mumbai: After securing victories in their inaugural matches, Mumbai Mavericks and Phantom Stars have more reasons to celebrate as they have made it to the semi-finals of the Transcon Super Squash Mumbai Junior Tournament which would be played at the Juhu Ville Parle Gymkhana on Sunday.
Against all expectations, it was Rutva Samant, who after a mediocre performance on the first day defeated Aaryamaan Jaising. Paarth Ambani from Wiz Kids also grabbed some eyeballs with his playing style against Jay Vakhnilli on Saturday.
Adhish Kancharla of Phantom Stars too had a good contest against Ekambir Singh of Wiz Kids and eventually ended up defeating him 10-12 11-8 11-3.
Aleya Masand was simply blown away by Tisha Jasani in straight sets as the latter didn’t offer any chances of a comeback.
Vivaan Shah fought hard on Saturday but the latter ended up losing the first set 5-11 to Devay Mehta. Shah however staged a fightback and gave a flipping coin to the other two sets, winning them 11-6 and 11-8.
A bigger audience is expected on Sunday, the last of the day of the tournament, which has already seen a large crowds accumulate in the squad court corridors.
