Mumbai: 16-year-old Jemimah Rodrigues, of Mumbai, the city which has produced many cricket legends, powered her way to a 163-ball 202 against Saurashtra in a 50-over match of an U-19 tournament in Aurangabad.
The young cricketer was first drafted into Mumbai’s U-19 team when she was just 13 years old and now, she already has two centuries in her kitty and has an average over 300 in the U-19 Super Leagues.
Jemimah began playing the game at a very young age and had initially started as a bowler. Later, she became a top-order batswoman, generally opening the innings and also coming out to bat no. 3 as well.
The youngster is also an example of versatility as she also has represented Mumbai in hockey at the U-17 level.
The right-handed Jemimah demolished the opposition single-handedly with this magnificent knock as she helped her team pile up a mammoth 347/2 in their 50 overs. The Indian team’s brilliant performance in the Women’s World Cup, held earlier this year has led to the increase in buzz and in the revolution of women’s cricket in the country and young Jemimah’s knock is clearly an addition to all of that.
