USA bagged the first points at stake at this Visit Puerto Vallarta Cup, following a narrow win over France at the tournament’s opener.
Farberoff lads proved to be a mature, consistent team, and managed their advantage efficiently, knowing how to keep Les Bleus behind for most of the game.
Not even Maison’s hat trick for the French was enough to help France get ahead, as Nick Perera, with three goals, too, would not let that happen.
USA opened the scored in the first minutes of the game. Farberoff’s lads felt comfortable up there, and the score would not move again for the remainder of the period.
But the game’s mood changed in the second leg, where both teams brought on a terrific stroke exchange which, with three goals on each end, left the score 4-3, United States.
The North American widened their advantage in the opening of the last period, with the first of Roque’s hits today, resuming the blow exchange between the two powerhouses.
It was a busy afternoon for goalkeepers at both boxes, but USA managed to stay afloat in that fiercely contested battle, clinching an important first win in Puerto Vallarta.
