Mumbai: FC Pune City have signed Barcelona midfielder Josep María Comadevall Crous (known as Pitu) for the third edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) to be held in September-October.
Pune franchise looks to be on a signing spree as they have completed their domestic hiring and have also roped in Atletico de Kolkata coach Antonio Lopez Habas to guide the side this season. Habas is credited for the Kolkata franchise’s superb show in the first two editions of the cash-rich league.
Among others the Pune franchise have already signed few big names in Bruno Arias, Sanju Pradhan, Arata Izumi, Francis Fernandes, Apoula Edel, Narayan Das, Vishal Kaith and Rahul Bheke.
Pitu, by the way, has played only one match for the Spanish giants after having graduated from their academy only the last season. Before that, the mid-fielder had created a niche for himself while turning out for lower division clubs in Spain.
The Spaniard has a total of 145 appearances in different clubs in the lower division of the Spanish league in the last four editions. He though had a good last season making 39 appearances for his club UE Llagostera as a central midfielder.
Though the 32-year-old midfielder played only one mtch for the Barcelona first team, the player can boast to have played a total 83 matches for the Barcelona B and C teams from 2002 to 2006.
The FC Pune City team has three other central midfielders in Lenny Rodrigues, Eugeneson Lyngdoh and Arata Izumi, Lenny Rodrigues and Eugeneson Lyngdoh in their squad.
