The team hailing from Catalunya has one of the richest footballing histories on this planet. The academy that produced legends such as Xavi, Iniesta, and Messi has its claim to fame. Stars such as Johan Cryuff, Henry, Ronaldinho, and Raul have represented the club at different times. We take a look at 10 wins that make Barcelona who they are today.
10. Real Madrid 0 – 3 FC Barcelona, 2017-18 La Liga
Winning against arch-rivals Real Madrid is always special and to win at the Santiago Bernabeu is probably the best.
Barcelona rode on goals from Messi, Suarez and Alex Vidal to trump Los Blancos at home and take a clear 7 point lead in the title race.
9. FC Barcelona 6 – 1 PSG, 2016 UEFA Chmapions League Quarterfinals
Probably the greatest Champions League game ever, Barcelona came back from 4-0 down in the first leg to trump the Parisians 6-1 (6-5 on aggregate) at Camp Nou with goals from Neymar, Iniesta, Suarez, Sergio Roberto, and Messi.
The decisive goal came in the 96th minute and filled the club with a belief that anything was possible for this outfit.
8. FC Barcelona 2 – 0 Manchester United, 2009 UEFA Champions League Final
Pep Guardiola took over Barca as his first big managerial assignment and took them to the European final of 2009 to Wembley.
They squared off against Alex Ferguson’s mighty Manchester United and came out on top with goals from Eto’o and Messi. The season was a total hit as Barca ruled domestic and continental competition with their ‘tiki-taka’ style of play.
7. FC Barcelona 3 – 2 Real Madrid, 2011-12 Super Copa de Espana
Barcelona and Real Madrid have been all about making statements over the years.
Barca made one in the curtain-raiser of the 2011-12 season when they showed Jose Mourinho’s men that despite winning the league two months back by 4 points, they meant business this time around as well.
Messi’s late goal gave Barca a 3-2 victory at Camp Nou after a 2-2 draw in Madrid.
6. FC Barcelona 5 – 0 Real Madrid, 2010-11 La Liga
It is very rare and prestigious for a club to score five past their opponents and Spanish football has rarely witnessed such occasions.
In the 2010-11 season, Pep Guardiola’s ‘tiki-taka’ outplayed Jose Mourinho’s defensive approach as the Catalans pumped five past Real. Utter humiliation.
5. FC Barcelona 2 – 1 Real Madrid, 1960 European Cup Final
Real had probably the greatest strike partnership the World has ever seen, with legends Alfredo di Stefano and Puskas leading the lines.

But the winners of all previous editions of the UEFA Cup were given a shocker in the Final at Camp Nou as Barcelona rallied around them to come out 2-1 winners. The Cup went to the Catalans for the first time since its inception in 1955.
4. FC Barcelona 2 – 0 UC Sampdoria, 1989 Cup Winners’ Cup Final
Johan Cryuff was appointed as Barca coach in 1988 and his idea of total football had an immediate impact as Barca found success in Europe, lifting the Cup Winners’ Cup against Sampdoria in the Final with goals from Roberto and Rekarte.
3. FC Barcelona 3 – 1 Juventus, 2015 UEFA Champions League Final
The treble-winning season under Luis Enrique was extremely special for Barcelona and football fans alike.
Having secured the La Liga and Copa del Rey, they trumped Italian giants Juve in the final with goals from Rakitic, Suarez, and Neymar.
2. FC Barcelona 2 – 1 Arsenal, 2006 Champions League Final
Barcelona met Arsenal in the Champions League final in Paris. The Gunners started the game positively, forcing saves from the Barca keeper, but with Pires’ substitution, Barca was in the hot seat.
Arsenal got the lead through Campbell before Samuel Eto’o and Belletti goals made sure Barcelona were champions.
1. FC Barcelona 5 – 1 Real Madrid, 2018-19 La Liga
Barcelona showed just why they are one of the best sides in the World as they outplayed a weak and grim Ronaldo-less Real Madrid at Camp Nou and scored 5 goals on a night when their talisman Messi was out injured.
The El Classico has hardly lived up to its billing in recent years and that is because of the difference in class between Real and Barca.
