Thiem has been having a career best year in 2019. He defeated Roger Federer in Indian Wells final, Rafa Nadal in Barcelona semis and also Novak Djokovic in Roland Garros semis. He is the only player in this new generation who has at least 3 wins against each of the Big 3.

Thiem at 25 now has 2 Roland Garros finals to his credit. None of his Next-Gen rivals has reached a Grand Slam final yet. The closest is Stefanos Tsitsipas who reached Australian Open semifinal this year.
