Today we bring you the 25 players featuring in SRH Squad for IPL 2021. The David Warner led Sunrisers Hyderabad made to the top 4 finish in 2020 edition of the cash rich league; though their second Indian Premier League title couldn’t come in the season. The Rajiv Gandhi International stadium based side have previously won tournament title in 2016, here we talk about 25 players of SRH Squad for IPL 2021 who’ll try to win them their second one.
Jagadeesha Suchith
The Karnataka Left arm Spinner will be among the 25 members of SRH Squad for IPL 2021 as he was among the three cricketers to be picked by the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium based side during the Indian Premier League 2021 mini auctions. It will be interesting to see how they use Suchith in the matches given they have brought him in as one of the only three cricketers this year.
Virat Singh
The Jharkhand Left-Handed Batsman was picked by the Sun TV Network owned franchise during Indian Premier League 2020 auctions, at a whopping 1.9 Crores. Singh is part of the SRH squad for IPL 2021, though it is yet to be seen how and when they include him in the playing XI. Virat has scored one hundred and 11 fifties in Domestic T20 tournaments.
Mitchell Marsh
The Australian Cricketer Mitchell Ross Marsh was also picked by the Trevor Bayliss coached side during Indian Premier League 2020 auctions, for 2 Crore Indian Rupees. Marsh is part of the SRH squad for IPL 2021 as well, though he could get just one game in the previous season for the Hyderabad side. Being an all-rounder could be just the advantage he would have in a league edition when all focus is onto all-rounders.
Basil Thampi
The Tamil Nadu Medium Pacer has been with Sunrisers since 2018 and he will be in SRH squad for IPL 2021 as well. The Medium pacer has, though, been used only to give rest to the front line bowlers for past three seasons as you can get from the number of matches he’s played in these seasons. Thampi would like to change it this season.
Mohammad Nabi
The Afghan All-rounder Mohammad Nabi got the longest run in the Indian Premier League 2019 when he played 8 matches for the David Warner’s team. Nabi is part of the SRH squad for IPL 2021 as well though he would like to better his match appearances compared to IPL 2019, and being an all-rounder the season’s buzz support him. Let’s see how he fares in Indian Premier League 2021 if he gets some matches.
Kedar Jadhav
The Maharashtra Cricketer Kedar Jadhav is known as a chase machine, though, after a horrid Indian Premier League 2020 season, he was released by Chennai Super Kings. The Hyderabad Franchise, picked the Cricketer as the highest purchase this season and thus, Jadhav would be member of the SRH Squad for IPL 2021. Kedar Jadhav can give some solidity to an inexperienced middle/lower order of the team and that might be the reason of this inclusion.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman
Afghanistan Off-break Bowler Mujeeb Ur Rahman Zadran would be another young cricketer to join the SRH squad for IPL 2021 as he was picked by the Hyderabad side during the auctions. Mujeeb is one of the three Afghanistan players to be part of Sunrisers’ team. The longest Mujeeb has got as appearances in Indian Premier League happened in 2018 when he picked 14 wickets from 11 matches at an average of 20.64.
Abdul Samad
Jammu & Kashmir Cricketer Abdul Samad became the fourth cricketer from his state to play for Indian Premier League when he was picked during the IPL 2020 auctions. Samad got 12 matches in the season where he scored 111 runs at a strike rate of 170+. Sunrisers would be looking for him to develop into a fine lower order batsman and handy leg spinner to support their campaign this year.
Abhishek Sharma
Punjab All-rounder is part of the team based at Telangana’s capital since 2018 and this season will be no different with Abhishek Sharma being part of the SRH squad for IPL 2021. Priyam Garg & Abhishek Sharma, both coming off the U-19 squad of India, formed the middle-lower order of the team of Indian Premier League 2020.
Priyam Garg
The Uttar Pradesh Batsman was picked by the Sunrisers Hyderabad team during Indian Premier League 2020 auctions at a price of 1.9 Crore Indian Rupees. The Indian U-19 team’s captain at the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup 2020 has scored a half-century in the cash rich league though he would like to score more of these at the Indian Premier League 2021.
Shahbaz Nadeem
The Jharkhand Left arm Spinner was picked by the Sunrisers Hyderabad team in Indian Premier League 2019 for 3.2 Crores Indian Rupees. Nadeem picked 6 wickets from the 7 matches he got for the Hyderabad team in Indian Premier League 2020.
Shreevats Goswami
The Bengal Wicket-keeper batsman was the Emerging Player of the Year in Indian Premier League 2008 when he was playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The most match appearances he got was in IPL 2012, but couldn’t make the best use of the opportunities and since then only gets a match if the first choice wicket-keeper is not playing. Sunrisers have two wicket-keepers before him on that count.
Siddarth Kaul
The Punjab Medium Pacer had picked 17 wickets in Indian Premier League 2017 & 21 wickets in 2018 for the Sunrisers. Siddarth Kaul didn’t get many appearances in 2019 & 2020 seasons, something he would like to improve this season as a part of SRH squad for IPL 2021. Kaul would like to use the chances that he gets to push his place in the team.
Khaleel Ahmed
The Left arm medium pacer from Rajasthan picked 19 wickets from 9 matches for Sunrisers in IPL 2019. Khaleel didn’t get as many wickets in the next edition as he would pick 8 from 7 matches. The Left-arm medium pacer can be a perfect ally to Bhuvneshwar Kumar & Sandeep Sharma, but then the latest sensation T Natarajan has bolstered his chances this IPL with performances against Australia in Australia.
Vijay Shankar
The All-rounder in Vijay Shankar is yet to take off. He’s got chances in Indian Premier League and also at International level, but hasn’t done enough to be a regular face or seen as match winner. Shankar would expect this season to be a game changer in his career so he could push himself to the international cricket again.
Wriddhiman Saha
The Wicket-keeper batsman could be one of the best fit in last generation of Test Cricket India played under MS Dhoni or Sourav Ganguly, but things have changed since then and Saha is not a first choice Keeper in test format. Saha did show what dominance he can bring over bowlers in domestic limited overs cricket he played recently and this is what Warner’s boys will expect him to do this Summer as he’s a part of SRH squad for IPL 2021.
Sandeep Sharma
The Punjab Medium pacer was among the natural swingers of leather ball from the last generation. Sandeep Sharma could be crucial for this Hyderabad based outfit as he’s among the players who have played all over in last decade and the touch of the season being neutral venue, he is experienced of all venues.
T Natarajan
The Tamil Nadu Left arm medium pacer has gone places in last 6 months starting with amazing IPL season, he was picked as net-bowler to Indian Cricket team at Australia and with injuries to first choice bowlers, went on to debut in all three formats India played against Australia and to add more to it, he impressed most of the cricket pundits too. Meaning a more confident bowlers comes to IPL fold as a part of SRH squad for IPL 2021 and looks like he’ll be sharing the new ball with Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Jason Holder
The West Indies all-rounder may well be the one in Sunrisers think tank who marshals the all-rounders of this team. Holder is part of the SRH squad for IPL 2021 as well as he would look to build over his inconsistent exploits during IPL 2020.
Rashid Khan
The Afghanistan leg spinner is the one who’ll lead the SRH squad for IPL 2021 vis-à-vis Spin bowling department. Shahbaz Nadeem knows Indian pitches more but Rashid has been one of the key wicket-takers for the Sunrisers in all editions, so, it will be a toss between the two depending on the weaknesses of opponents against Left/right arm leg spin.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar
The natural swinging deliveries are his strength and these got him to international fame, death bowling he developed later on to be pace spearhead for the teams he has played with. The bowler who bowled Sachin to his only duck in first class cricket will be part of the SRH squad for IPL 2021, spearheading the pace attack.
Manish Pandey
The Karnataka batsman is no longer the first choice middle order batsman for Indian Cricket team. He’s lost his place to KL Rahul who works as a floater for India, someone who can open, bat in top order or bat in the middle order as the situation be, in addition keep wickets. Pandey is, however, supposed to be a regular member of SRH squad for IPL 2021 and this is the opportunity to exploit and freshly claim a regular place in the national team.
Kane Williamson
The shy cricketer, as he is seen as, is almost everything any team can be proud of. A team player, a support, a key strategizer, good fielder, a great batsman and what not. Williamson is part of the SRH squad for IPL 2021 as well as the support Warner would like in his think tank.
Jonny Bairstow
The England Wicket-keeper batsman hadn’t had a good outing in the test series against India in India and this would be a bad news for him at Indian Premier League as well with Saha being brilliant in past few months on Indian pitches. Bairstow would, however, like to force his chances against Chris Foakes in the national team with a good Indian Premier league season. He’s part of the SRH squad for IPL 2021 as well, but 4 overseas players limit with David Warner, Kane Williamson & Rashid Khan playing the most games mean a tough competition between him and Jason Holder to claim the fourth place.
David Warner
The Australian Opener is among the most consistent scorers in Indian Premier League cricket. His strike rate is something he would like to improve upon this season as a leader of the SRH squad for IPL 2021, David Warner is key to any claim the team has on the title.
Phase 2 in UAE, Changes in SRH Squad for IPL 2021 :
Due to corona outbreak in India, the season was stopped post Match number 29 and all the remaining matches were shifted out of India to be held during September-October at UAE. With the changes in season schedules, there were withdrawals and new additions to the squads. Sunrisers, however, remained unaffected by the schedule changes but for one as Jonny Bairstow withdrew to make way in for Sherfane Rutherford.
These were the twenty five players who make the squad of Sunrisers Hyderabad for Indian Premier League 2021 season. Hope your liked the content; don’t forget to put in your thoughts & questions as comments.
