Kolkata: Neither is it a Shah Rukh Khan starrer nor a Tom Cruise starrer. In fact, it doesn’t consist of any star. Despite this, the trailer of the bio-pic Sachin: A Billion Dreams, has surpassed a massive 15 million views on social media within 24 hours and trended for 14 hours on Twitter. So what’s so special about the trailer that it has got this humongous reaction? Well the answer lies in the name of the biopic itself. The name of Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. And as it is always seen, whatever the master touches turns to gold.
The trailer which is 2 minutes 13-seconds long assures that the film is set to introduce incredible moments from the master’s life, those we aren’t aware of till date. It also promises to relive the nostalgic on-field moments from Tendulkar’s life. To add a cherry on top, Tendulkar himself will be present on screen to dictate and elaborate his feelings and unveil those moments. It is understandable hence, that not only common fans, but Bollywood stars and celebs from the sporting fraternity shared their excitement about the film.
In recent times, it has been seen that the popularity the biopics get has been immense. May it be Dangal, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story or Mary Kom, all of these films have garnered huge interest from the audience. And this time, director James Erskine is all set to gift the audience an experience to get to know the inner world of the God of cricket.
At the trailer launch, alongside Erskine and producers Ravi Bhagchandka and Shrikant Bhasi (Founder and Chairman, Carnival Group), Tendulkar himself was present to give the audience a sneak peak into the movie. The fans are anxiously waiting for the release and it is predicted that the movie may become one of the top grossers this year.
The heroic lives of sportspersons and athletes have always attracted directors and Bollywood especially seems to be in love with sports. These sportspersons who represent the hopes and aspirations of the common people never fail to grab eyeballs. It can rightly be said that both the film industry and the associated sports mutually benefit from this ever growing relation between the otherwise diverse genres. So don’t be surprised if you see people chanting the evergreen ‘Sachiinnnn, Sacchiin!” in theatres on May 26.
