Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures- a maxim which has been kept in mind for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League this time around. A tournament that will take place amid a raging Pandemic that is still encroaching upon the lives of millions of people all across the globe, the Board Of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has taken the responsibility of organizing their marquee event with equal aplomb this time as well.
However owing to the Pandemic, the situation in India is too critical to hold a cricket Tournament of IPL’s magnitude. Thus the tried and tested formula for holding the tournament in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been implemented. However new guidelines and regulations have been established under which the entire tournament will be held. Following would be the rules that would be implemented for the first time in IPL 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL)-

This is the first time that a separate third umpire would be instituted to check the no-ball after every delivery is bowled. Earlier there were complaints from the various cricket committees that discrepancy took place in this process. This happened because the no-ball was only reviewed if the batsman was not satisfied with the decision given by the umpire and would appeal for a Decision Review System (DRS).
