Cristiano Ronaldo, the Real Madrid Star who led Portugal to win Euro 2016 title in France recently inaugurated his own hotel on Friday. The hotel is called “CR7” kept after his initials and the number on his shirt. Just weeks after winning the title for the country the star appeared on the terrace of his hotel building facing the sea, wearing a white baseball cap.
Ronaldo was quoted saying “It’s a little strange. I never could have imagined that I would be a hotelier at the age of 31”, after his hotel opened for business on July 1. Later this year, a second “CR7” hotel is scheduled to be inaugurated in Lisbon and two more are planned next year in Madrid and New York.
Ronaldo will be visiting the museum on the ground floor of his hotel on Monday.
Meanwhile the president of The Madeira region, Miguel Albuquerque, announced that the local airport of the island of Funchal will be soon renamed in his honor.
The 31-year old had turned hotelier in December 2015 after $40 million investment into four boutique hotels developed by the Pestana Hotel Group, one of Portugal’s largest tourism and leisure firms.
This hotel at his hometown Funchal is the first of four in line with the announcement made in December. The other hotels as per the announcement were planned at Lisbon where he first started his youth career, Madrid for his tenure with the famed Spanish club, and New York where he has planned for the Major League Soccer.
There is no doubt that Ronaldo is one of the greatest football players in the world and with his hand in the hotel business, he might just become one of the best hoteliers in the world.
