Kolkata: Left-arm paceman Jaydev Unadkat starred with the ball as he scalped six wickets in a low scoring match to hand Saurashtra a victory by an innings and 31 runs over Haryana in Rohtak on Sunday.
Saurashtra could only post 278 runs in the first innings but the bowlers put up a spirited performance to bowl out Haryana for a meagre 107 in the first innings. Shaurya Sanandia was the most successful bowler picking up four wickets and conceding just 44 runs while Unadkat took 3/35.
Still trailing by 171 runs, many expected Haryana to put up a better show with the willow but that wasn’t the case as once again their openers failed provide any resistance. Barring Chaitanya Bishnoi who scored 56 from 115 balls, the rest of the batting failed. Deepak Punia was the second highest scorer with 34 runs while the duo of Sanandia and Unadkat was once again on the money as they scalped five wickets between them. Unadkat, who had a brilliant IPL last season with match figures of 6/90 would surely impress the selectors and also the bowling coach, who mentioned at one point that he required a left-arm paceman for the Indian team.
Also, in the Madhya Pradesh vs Baroda match, Yusuf Pathan announced himself in the Ranji Trophy with a magnificent 111 while brother Irfan Pathan also scored 80 runs.
