Profile | Tamim Iqbal is an International Bangladeshi cricketer, who plays for the national cricket team of Bangladesh since 2007. He appears in all three formats of the game and plays as an opening batsman. Tamim Iqbal also bowls occasionally in right-armed off-break style. He is one of the most successful batsmen of Bangladesh as an individual scorer, especially for shorter formats of the game. Tamim Iqbal was born in a port city of Chittagong in a prestigious Islam family and took professional cricket training from an early age. His brother & uncle are also international cricketers and both played for the test of Bangladesh for a few years. He used to represent Chittagong Division club in domestic circuit and played for Chittagong Vikings teams as well in first-class cricket. Tamim has also played for Nottinghamshire county club team in county cricket. He started making records from the beginning days of his career and became one of the highest scorers in most of the tournament he has appeared. He played in Bangladesh Under-19 World Cup in 2006 and led his team a glorious win against Indian in that tournament. His immense success in domestic cricket soon rewards him with the national selection and he made his international debut in 2007. In the beginning, he was consistent scoring good innings in test matches, but gradually improved his skill in all formats of the game and became an asset for the national Bangladesh cricket team. He has been served the team as the vice-captain as well for 2 years and already appeared in 2 World Cup tournaments in his long career graph.
