Profile | Shane Warne is an Australian former cricketer who currently works as a cricket commentator for international cricket. He has played for the national cricket team of Australia from 1992 to 2007 and captained the national squad as well for a while. He was a brilliant leg spinner and considered one of the greatest cricketers in the history of the game. He has chosen as one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Century for his spectacular contribution to this sport. He has played for the domestic franchise like IPL till 2013, even after taking retirement from the international field. Warne used to represent Rajasthan Royals in IPL and currently the mentor of this team. He started his domestic career with the University of Melbourne Cricket Club with the Under 16 team. At that time, also played football at the interstate level and appeared in a few Under 19 matches for the St Kilda Football Club. In 1991, he got back to the cricket field again with the team Accrington Cricket Club and shone like a true gem in the Lancashire League. After this, it was smoother for Warne to continue his career with cricket and he finally made his international debut in 1992 following a few first-class matches. He was a true exhibition of spin bowling, which brought him the nickname ‘Spin King’ in the world cricket. He was sheer skilled in turning the ball at will with a variations and command. His two fingers up and two fingers down grip became a signature hold for this legendary spinner.
