Profile | Nicholas Pooran is a Trinidadian cricketer, who serves the national West Indies cricket team since 2016. He appears in the shorter format of the game and represents Trinidad & Tobago team in domestic cricket. Pooran is a left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman and considered one of the best-skilled keepers of the Caribbean team since his school days. He has played several regional tournaments during his domestic days and started his regional cricket career professionally from T&T Under-19 tournament in 2012.
After this, Pooran played for West Indies Under-19 team and participated in Under-19 World Cup in 2014. He served that domestic team as vice-captain and keeper-batman in that tournament. His glorious innings in Under-19 World Cup led him towards Twenty20 franchise and then the national team of West Indies gradually. Pooran got selected for the national squad of West Indies in 2016 and made his international debut through a T20I match against Pakistan. Pooran hasn’t made his test debut yet and played only one ODI so far. However, his dependable cricket skill gave him place in the squad of West Indies for 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup currently.
