Profile | Carl Lewis is an American former track and field athlete, who represented his continent international from 1979 to 1996. He is a nine-time Olympics gold medalist and a ten-time World Champion. Lewis is one of the rare athletes, who achieved a gold medal in the same individual event in four successive Olympics Games. He was one leading sprinter as well as long-jumper of all-time, who ranked as the World’s No.1 in athletes list from 1981 to 1990s. Lewis has made several world records during his time and honored with numbers of accolades for his undeniable contribution to this sport. He is the winner of 65 international victories in a row over a period of 10 years, which is considered the longest record streaks of all-time. Lewis started his athlete career since his early childhood and got his primary training form his father William Lewis. At the age of 13, he came under the strict coaching of Andy Dudek and Paul Minore during his early high-school days. At that time, Lewis sharpened his long jumping skills and became fourth on the list of all-time World Junior list of the long jumper. His winning trail started in 1983 with the gold medal in the World Championship and he never looked back since then. After taking retirement in 1996, he appeared in several films and television programs as a cameo artist.
