Profile | Björn Borg is a former world No. 1 tennis player from Sweden. This super Swede is regarded as one of the greatest tennis players ever. Borg won 11 Slams in his career. He won 5 of those at the Centre court of Wimbledon. The ease with which Borg dominated the fast courts of Wimbledon and slow clay of Roland Garros continues to be an enigma in tennis even today. The Super Swede as he was famously called won 5 consecutive titles at Wimbledon from 1976 to 1980. This continues to be a record he jointly shares with Roger Federer. Had Borg not retired at the early age of 26, he might well have increased his trophy count at SW19. His Wimbledon rivalry with John McEnroe is regarded as one of the greatest in the game of tennis. Borg’s 1st Wimbledon win came in 1976 when he was aged 20 years and 27 days. The Swedish rock-star would follow it by winning 4 more consecutive titles at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
