He has been playing for the national cricket team of SA since 2016 and appears in Cape Town Blitz domestic team too along with his successful international career. Phehlukwayo was born in Durban city of South Africa in 1996 and has started a serious cricket career after his high school days. At the beginning of his domestic cricket career, he made an eye-turning debut in first-class cricket in 2014. After this, Phehlukwayo was named in the Jo’burg Giants’ team for the first season of T20 Global League. However, this tournament was postponed later, and he pursued his domestic cricket career with 2018 Africa T20 Cup further along with the Mzansi Super League T20 Tournament. The brightest domestic achievement that Phehlukwayo has till date is the Proteas U-19 World Cup winning team appearance. It is the consistencies with good performances in A tours that made the selector agree to pick Phehlukwayo as a regular bowler in internationals. Although Andile Phehlukwayo has started his career as a fast-medium bowler, this 23 years young South African player soon established himself as a bright all-rounder of the national team. This all-rounder, Phehlukwayo bats with the left hand and is a right-armed fast-medium pace bowler with a moderate bowling speed. (as Compiled by Madhushree Das Ghosh) |
