Mumbai: Ace shuttler Parupalli Kashyap delivered India a consecutive twin victory in the qualifiers of the Japan Open Super Series on Tuesday. He entered the main draw, where he will lock horns with his fellow Indian- Srikanth Kidambi in the first round.
Kashyap is seen to get back with a bang, after his injury layoff at the 2016 Rio Olympics due to the knee injury.
At the first game, he took down his Austrian opponent David Obernosterer with ease, as he retired lagging with a score of 3-11.
He qualified for the main draw as the 30-year old Indian seeded fourth, by defeating Denmark’s Anders Antonsen with 21-18 21-12 in the second match.
However, India will not see an by female representatives in the match, since Tanvi Lad went down with a humble 21-19 18-21 9-21 scoreline against Japan’s Chisato Hoshi.
Indian competitors who were also a part of the Indonesian Open- HS Prannoy, Ajay Jayaram and Sai Praneeth, will too accompany them in the tournament.
