India’s legendary Javelin Thrower Neeraj Chopra has won the gold medal at the Sotteville Athletics Meet beating the 2012 Olympic champion, in France.
Chopra won the medal with a distance of 85.17 meters. By throwing a distance of 81.48 meters Maldova’s Andrian Mardare won the silver medal while 79.31 meters won bronze for Lithuania’s Edis Matusevicius.

Not to forget that 2012 London Olympics gold medalist Keshorn Walcott also took part in this tournament. In this event, 5th place went to Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago. Neeraj Chopra had earlier surprised everybody when he won the gold medal in the World Junior Championship in 2016 with a world record of 86.48 meters.
Neeraj won gold in this year’s Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and finished fourth in the Diamond League and created a new national record.
