New Delhi: MV Sridhar resigned from the post of BCCI’s general manager (cricket operations) following allegations of conflict of interest. His resignation was duly accepted by the Committee of Administrators (COA) appointed by the Supreme Court at a meeting held in Mumbai in Wednesday.
According to reports in The Times of India, CEO Rahul Johri sent an email to the top BCCI officials to inform them about Sridhar’s actions.
“Please note that Dr MV Sridhar has decided to move on and tendered his resignation,” wrote Johri, as quoted by PTI.
He further added, “His resignation has been accepted today by the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA). Dr Sridhar has agreed to stay on till September 30, 2017 for smooth handover of work. We thank him for his services to BCCI.”
Earlier, Sridhar was accused of ‘conflict of interest’ after he failed to disclose aboout the six clubs he owns under the Hyderabad Cricket Association – since the time he was head of the state body. It was later brought into notice by another member of the COA. Moreover, he also had a hand in the appointment of trainer Sohum Desai in the NCA, who as it appeared did not even appear in the test for recruitment of NCA trainers, before his appointment.
He also is said to be one of the fore-heads who played a major role in scrapping off the Duleep trophy, which was later restored by the COA.
With so many accusations under his name it was only a matter of time before Mr. sridhar resigned from his post.
Meanwhile, CEO Rahul Johri will be the head of Cricket Operations as of now and will be supported by a three-member team comprising Mayank Parik (International Cricket, Logistics), KVP Rao (Domestic Cricket) and Gaurav Saxena (for ICC/ACC matters, co-ordination with other international boards and point person for the Indian men’s cricket team).
