Kolkata: Bangladeshi pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman, has always been a special bowler ever since his thunderous debut against India. Once again, he proved the world why he is one of the best in the business today as his spectacular bowling effort handed Bangladesh an emphatic victory over the Irishmen in their own backyard.
Both these teams sought their first victory in the ongoing tri-series in Ireland which also involves New Zealand. Bangladesh after drawing their first match needed a victory under their belt because they had suffered a four-wicket loss at the hands of New Zealand in their second game, few days ago.
So this a perfect opportunity for someone like Mustafizur to come out and dictate terms and he didn’t disappoint at all.
After being put into bat, Mustafizur got the early wicket of the danger man Paul Stirling and later went on to dismiss brothers Niall O’ Brien and Kevin O’ Brien and also Gary Wilson. He conceded just 23 runs from his ten overs and his effort helped bowl out the Irishmen for just 181. Bangladesh came back with the bat to knock off these runs with 22.5 overs to spare.
Yet, this 21- year old sensation wasn’t given too many games by his IPL franchise- Sunrisers Hyderabad in this year’s edition, after he played a crucial role in their title triumph last year.
Perhaps this happened due to the need for accommodating other foreign recruits in the team, or the franchise might have gone for a change in strategy. Whatever it is, the fact that he was given a single game doesn’t justify his talent and skills and his superb bowling effort has sent a message to his critics.
Who could forget that stunning debut against a star powered India side which left the latter really, “stunned”?
He has been on a mission since then. A mission to be the best and he’s well on his route towards becoming so. His guile and pace is always something every batsman fears. No wonder he is gaining up the ranks very quickly.
