ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 is known more for batting performances as it saw Martin Guptill scoring the highest score of a Cricket World Cup, 237 not out, during the tournament. 5. Morne Morkel (South Africa)

With these wickets, Morkel featured in the top 5 list of the most wickets in Cricket World Cup 2015. His best was 3/34 against Ireland on March 3, 2015 at Manuka Oval, Canberra. Batting first, South Africa scored 411/4 with Hashim Amla’s 159, Faf du Plessis’s 109 & Rilee Rossouw‘s 61 not out. Ireland, in reply, were bowled out for 210. Mohammed Shami would pick 17 wickets from the seven matches he played in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 at an average of 17.29. With these wickets, Shami featured in the top 5 list of the most wickets in Cricket World Cup 2015. His best was 4/35 against Pakistan on February 15 at Adelaide Oval. India had batted first and scored 300/7 with Virat Kohli’s 107 & Suresh Raina‘s 74. Pakistan, in reply, were bowled out for 224. Umesh Yadav & Mohit Sharma took 2-wickets each while Ravichandran Ashwin & Ravindra Jadeja took 1 each, apart from 4 wicket haul of Shami.

The Nagpur born Indian Medium Pacer debuted in ODI in 2010. Umeshkumar Tilak Yadav would pick 18 wickets from the eighth matches he played in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 at an average of 17.83. With these wickets, Yadav featured in the top 5 list of the most wickets in Cricket World Cup 2015. His best was 4/31 against Bangladesh on March 19 at Melbourne Cricket Ground. India had batted first and scored 302/6 from their overs with Rohit Sharma’s 137 & Suresh Raina’s 65. Bangladesh, in reply, were bowled out for 193. Mohammed Shami & Ravindra Jadeja took 2-each, while Mohit Sharma took 1 apart from Yadav’s performance.
2. Trent Boult (New Zealand)
The New Zealand Medium Pacer debuted in ODI in 2012. Trent Alexander Boult would pick 22 wickets from the nine matches he played in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 at an average of 16.86. With these wickets, Boult co-led the top 5 list of the most wickets in Cricket World Cup 2015. His best was 5/27 against Australia on February 28 at Eden Park, Auckland. Batting first, Australia were bowled out for 151 with Boult’s 5-for, 2 wickets each of Tim Southee & Daniel Vettori, and one wicket of Corey Anderson. New Zealand won the match by one wicket with Brendon McCullum scoring 50 while Kane Williamson scoring 45 not out.
1. Mitchell Starc (Australia)
The Australian Pacer debuted in ODI in 2010. Mitchell Aaron Starc would pick 22 wickets from the eighth matches he played in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 at an average of 10.18. With these wickets, Starc co-led the top 5 list of the most wickets in Cricket World Cup 2015. His best was 6/28 against New Zealand in a losing cause at Eden Park. New Zealand won the low scoring match by just one wicket as Mitchell Starc would produce one of the most hostile spells for the chasing team.
These were the top wicket-takers of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Fourteen teams participated in the tournament and were divided into two pools. The Pool stage was a round robin format and top 4 of each pool would go to quarterfinals which would then decide the semifinals and then the finalists were decided.
