In fact he took all these wickets a match against Pakistan on October 11. With these wickets, O’Connor featured in the top 5 list of the most wickets in Champions Trophy 2000. Pakistan won the toss but were bowled out for 252 as they batted first. O’Connor was the destroyer in chief with the 5 wickets while Nathan Astle took two wickets. The Indian Left arm medium pacer would go on to take 7 wickets from the four matches he played at an average of 24.14 & strike rate of 27.4. With these wickets, Zaheer Khan featured in the top 5 list of the most wickets in Champions Trophy 2000. His best was 3/48 against Kenya in the same pre-quarterfinal match that India won by 8 wickets.

2. Azhar Mahmood (Pakistan)
The Pakistan All rounder would pick 7 wickets from the two matches he played in the ICC Champions Trophy 2000 at an average of 16.71 & strike rate of 17.1. With these wickets, Azhar Mahmood featured in the top 5 list of the most wickets in Champions Trophy 2000. His best was 4-38 against New Zealand in a losing cause at the semifinal stage. Pakistan were bowled out for 252 after toss. Mahmood took 4 and Saqlain Mushtaq took one but they couldn’t stop New Zealand from conquering the target and hence setting the title clash against India.
1. Venkatesh Prasad (India)
The Indian Medium Pacer BK Venkatesh Prasad would pick 8 wickets from the three matches he played in the ICC Champions Trophy 2000 at an average of 21.37 & strike rate of 24.5. With these wickets, Venkatesh Prasad led the top 5 list of the most wickets in Champions Trophy 2000. His best was 3/27 against New Zealand in the title clash on October 15.
In the tournament final, India had batted first after losing the toss to score 264/6 with Sourav Ganguly’s 117 & Sachin Tendulkar’s 69.
