Former Deportivo La Coruña Footballer Rivaldo Vítor Borba Ferreira would go on to score 19 goals for 1899 founded Futbol Club Barcelona during the 1997-98 tournament. With these goals, the Brazilian Footballer got himself among the footballers with the most goals in La Liga 1997-98. His team would win the tournament title and qualify for the Champions League group stage. Barcelona would score 78 goals, while they would concede 56 goals in the tournament edition.

Former Juventus Footballer Christian Vieri would go on to score 24 goals for his team during the 1997-98 tournament. With these goals, the Italy Footballer got himself among the footballers with the most goals in La Liga 1997-98, in fact leading the list. His team would win 16, lose 10 & draw 12 from the competition to finish seventh in the tournament edition. Atlético Madrid would score 79 goals in the tournament edition, while they would concede 56 goals in the tournament edition.
