Jaipal Singh was the captain of Indian Hockey team at the Amsterdam 1928 Summer Games. India would go on to win the Olympic Hockey tournaments in the Summer Games, starting the Indian Field Hockey’s journey at the games with an Olympic title win. This was first of the 8 Olympic Gold medals India won in Olympics in Field Hockey till 1980. Singh would go on to be a political activist and an activist working in the area of tribal rights.
