Delhi: An upbeat FC Goa will aim to continue it’s winning momentum away from home when they face Delhi Dynamos at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi on Saturday. Both the teams started with a significant win, that had a similar scoreline but have had contrasting fortunes since then. While the ‘Gaurs’ have collected six points form the available nine, Dynamos have failed to collect any from the same number of matches.
Such has been Goa’s dominance that every win have seen them muster atleast three goals scoring a total of 13 in four matches. Their defence however has been equally waning, conceding a massive nine goals, that has seen them failing to keep clean sheet in a single match out of the total four. Nonethess, led by Ferran Corominas and Manuel Lanzarote both of who have flourished, the ‘Gaurs’ attack have made up for their defensive lapses.
“There is no doubt that our attack is easily one of the best in the ISL right now, but our defense still needs a lot of work. In the last couple of matches, we have played an open game and that has resulted in us conceding a number of goals. But, if you ask me whether I want my team to win 5-2 or 1-0, my choice will always be the first one,” said FC Goa coach Sergio Lobera, at the pre-match press conference.
Delhi on the other hand have nothing going their way. While their attacks have failed to net regular goals despite having the most number of touches (2824) and most number of crosses, a whopping 74, the Lions have mastered just 28 shots on goal, the lowest by any team so far. Their defence have been equally fragile managing just 89 tackles in four games, a feat highered only by ATK’s 88.
“In the games so far, we have dominated the ball and did everything well but we know we are not scoring and the team is working on that,” said fellow Spanish Miguel Angel Portugal.
Skipper and main striker Kalu Ulche added to that saying, “The finishing that has let us down and we need to address that issue.”
Goalkeeper Albino Gomes, who suffered a knee injury against Jamshedpur FC will miss the match for the Dynamos but left back Sena Ralte has fully recovered and is likely to start against Goa.
