Mumbai: Mitchell McClenaghan, New Zealand fast bowler, was ruled out of the Five match One day International (ODI) series against India on Friday due to his Pelvis Injury.
“Mitch is out with a pelvis injury which he suffered earlier in the year. He is recovering well but won’t be available for the coming tour,” said a New Zealand Cricket (NZC) Spokesperson to espncricinfo recently.
McClenaghan suffered a stress fracture to his pelvis while playing for Middlesex in the NatWest Twenty20 Blast in June and was expected to recover in six weeks time. But the recent developments said, he was not able to recover in time and hence will be missing the ODI series in India starting in October.
The left arm bowler has not been able to play matches after suffering from a hairline fracture above his left eye while playing against Pakistan in Wellington earlier this year. And with the pelvis injury, his time off the field continues.
Since his debut in 2013, McClenaghan has played 48 ODIs and has 82 wickets at an average of 28.20 including six four-wicket hauls along with a five-wicket haul is the fastest bowler to take 50 wickets for New Zealand in ODIs.
The absence of both Milne and McClenaghan could increase test squad member Doug Bracewell’s chances of making into the ODI squad, featuring Matt Henry, Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Jimmy Neesham.
New Zealand Team is scheduled to play three test matches starting from September 22 and five One day Internationals (ODI) against India, starting from October 16.
