Manheim, USA: In the fourth match of their USA tour, India beat Canada 3-1 in their second consecutive encounter.
Starting off from where they left in the last match, India were on aggression early in the match and had a shot at the target in the very first few minutes; which however was saved by Canadian Goalie Rowan Harris. Canada also tried to take early lead, though it was India in the 19th minutes to make an inroad at the scoreboard, through a goal from Poonam Rani.
The lead couldn’t go long as Natalie Sourisseau equalized for Canada shortly. No further goals were scored in the second quarter as the teams went for break with scores level at 1-1.
Coming from the break, India started offensively as Renuka scored of a penalty corner to bring another lead for India, and this galvanized the team to go further with creating chances and pressure on opponents. However, none of these chances got a mention on the scoreboard as the teams went for the third break with scores 2-1 in favor of India.
And it was all on the fourth and final quarter to decide the fate of this match, as teams tried to work their way to mentions on the scoreboard. This quarter however was also in favor of India as they kept the Canadian team play in midfield and then came a scoring shot; another one from India by Anuradha Devi, which shattered any hopes if still left for the opponents.
The final scorecard read 3-1 in favor of India as they won their third consecutive game of the tour.
India will play Canada on 26th July in their next tie of the tour.
