New Delhi: Swaroop Manohar Ulhankar of the Gun For Glory’s (GFG) Shooting Academy has been picked in the 11-member team to represent India at the IPC Shooting World Cup in Bangkok, which gets underway from November 5.
Manohar had put up good performances at the recently held national championships where he clinched the gold and at KSS Competition conducted by the Paralympic Committee of India. As a result of consistent good performances, the Kolhapur based shooter gets selected to represent the country.
Swaroop, who trains under the head coach of GFG Anton Belak in Project Leap would take part in the 10m Air Rifle Standing and Prone competitions. Having trained under the best of coaches along with quality equipments, the shooter feels confident about his chances in the tournament.
He said, “It’s been about four years that I have been training at the GFG and I have been steadily improving. Coach Anton Belak and Yuniatri Iliyas before him have worked on my shooting and I feel a lot more confident now.”
He also went on to explain that former Olympic bronze medalist Gagan Narang helped him focus on Prone Shooting and that he also helped him to maintain a good amount of concentration while shooting. Swaroop was also supported by GNSPF and Walther sponsored his weapon in 2016.
“Whenever I saw him at our practice sessions, I saw immense talent in him and I wanted to help him in any way I could. I am glad my advice has improved him and we will continue to leave no stone unturned to help him achieve his dreams,” said Gagan, whose brainchild is the GFG initiative, on Swaroop.
The Kolhapur based shooter will also be provided with world class equipment for him be able to take part in the IPC (International Paralympic Committee) World Cup.
