Kolkata: Having won all the three matches they have played so far, Mohun Bagan beat Calcutta Customs Club 2-0 on Sunday courtesy two brilliant goals by Koma and Kromah, to make it four wins out of four matches in the ongoing Calcutta Football League.
Bagan started right from where they they had left, as the Koma-Kromah combination once again for two successive matches posed a regular threat for the Customs’ defence.
The deadlock was broken by Kamo in the 32nd minute of the match through a powerful shot into the top corner.
Customs, who mostly relied on counter-attacks, had their chances to equalize but failed to do so through a free-kick awarded to them in the 40th minute. Hence, they headed to the break with a 1-0 deficit.
The second half started in the same manner as Bagan continued to attack the Customs’ defence. The constant attacks soon beared the fruits as Kromah make it 2-0 in the 51st minute from a cross by Chesterpaul.
Calutta Customs posed some threat occasionally but the Bagan defence had no qualms in thwarting it. On the other hand, each time Bagan attacked, it almost looked like another goal would be scored, but it was not to be as the match finished with 2-0 to the Mariners, who kept yet another clean sheet in the ongoing competition.
Ansumana Kromah was declared the man of the match for his brilliant performance.
While Bagan has been performing extremely well in the league, it is mainly the lethal attacking duo of Kamo and Kromah that has been central to most of Bagan’s attack and has hit form after playing a stellar role in the previous matches.
