Kolkata: One of the Premiere League giants Arsenal Football Club or The Gunners is again in the headlines but this time it’s not for the playing tactics or for any player but the media attention have been grabbed by Arsène Wenger, the manager of Arsenal Football Club.
Arsène Wenger, the frenchman’s future is up in the air as his contract with Arsenal is expiring by the end of the season. However Wenger has revealed he wants to stay in the football management for more years. With the expiring of his current contract his 21 years reign at the Emirates Stadium comes to an end.
According to an AFP report, Arsène Wenger said that he would like to extend his spell as Arsenal’s manager because he was found quoting that his preference would always be Arsenal.When asked by the reporter about his future in the game,the 67-year old told the reporters that if the reporter have any team, he can can employ Wenger in that team.
The current scenario is however not favouring Wenger as the manager of Arsenal again. Wenger’s popularity got a huge blow when last Wednesday Arsenal was crushed 5-1 at Bayern Munich in the Champions League,leaving them on the brink of a seventh successive last -16 exit.
Arsenal fans are absolutely furious with Wenger after the embrassing defeat of 5-1 to the German giants. The Gunners fans have already taken to twitter to express their anger towards manager Wenger.
Arsène Wenger however became unpopular after few disappointing match results. About 67 percent of the Gunners fans have voted for the change of the manager.In recent match the loyal Arsenal fans have been seen carrying a banner where it was written “ARSÈNE -THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES.BUT IT’S TIME TO SAY GOODBYE. ”
Under Wenger Arsenal is about 10 points below leaders Chelsea in the Premier league.
After everything Wenger believes he still has at least four years left in his managerial career and wants to work for longer than Manchester United’s,Alex Ferguson, who was 71 when he retired in 2013. Wenger also said this week he will make his decision on his future next month or in April, a change from his previous suggestions it would be at the end of the season.
Arsenal visit minnows Sutton United in the FA Cup on Monday and Wenger fears his side’s performance against Bayern was so abject it will take a long time for his squad to recover from it.”It will never be quick,” he said. “We will keep that with us for our whole lives. But overall I still believe in life if you dwell too much on the past, you forget to prepare the future.
Wenger refused to single out playmaker Mesut Ozil for any blame following the loss in his native Germany.According to Wenger only winning the next match can satisfy all the players and the fans.
So it’s a thing to watch out that after so much anger against him by the fans,back to back poor result of Arsenal under his managerial tactics can Wenger retain his position as the Arsenal Football Club.
