Kolkata: It is always an accepted fact that to build a perfect sporting star, the rule, “catch them young” is to be followed. The early years of a human being is the perfect time to build a true sportsperson out of him.
Two stars of contemporary Indian football has come forward to work for a purpose-a purpose of doing something for the future footballers of Bengal as well as India, by dedicating themselves in the development of the Bibeknagar Youth Association Ground, situated near Jadavpur in Kolkata to blossom the future Messis of India.
Abhijit Mondal, the two-time I-league winning goalkeeper and Arnab Mondal, one of pillars of the Indian national football team, extend their help here to inculcate football skills of the different age group wards. They also impart training to them to overcome challenges in the soccer field and become the ‘Heroes Of Tomorrow.’
Both Arnab and Abhijit have a long-standing experience about Indian football. And Abhijit holds a unique record as well. He is the only player to play in the I-League from Balurghat, a place in North Bengal.
The duo have spent their football careers under the coaching of stalwarts like Stephen Constantine, Trevor Morgan, Subhas Bhowmik, Armando Colaco. Their vast experience about Indian football will help them to coach the youngsters under in a proper manner. Abhijit’s plan is to impart special goalkeeping training to budding goal keepers.
His experience apprised him that In Indian football training, goalkeeping is a rather neglected phenomenon.
Bibeknagar Youth Association is quite delighted at the effort of these two top
football players who has taken it as a visionary goal. Initially, they will start their Academy with three age group of players (6 to 9, 9 to 13 and 12 to 15). They are trying to provide all sorts of support to make this Academy a successful one.
They are also aware that the continuous supply of financial resources is difficult. Nonetheless, they are hopeful that, with the help of different sphere of social organizations and Government, they will overcome all the difficulties in future days and make the Academy a future hope of Indian as well as Bengal football.
The BYA- Heroes of Tomorrow Soccer Academy is going to be inaugurated on February 11, in the presence of Aroop Biswas, the sports minister of West Bengal, Tarakeswar Chakrabarty, the chairman of Borough XI with Subrata Bhattacharya as the special
guest.
With Abhijit and Arnab’s deep sincerity, this academy will be a great prospect for Indian football in coming days.
